Recent runs
Duplication, not pressing
Pressed CDs are stamped in a factory from a glass master, usually in runs of 500 or more, and take weeks. Duplicated CDs are burned and printed one at a time, which makes small runs affordable and fast.
For a band selling at shows, a run of 50 or 100 duplicated CDs is usually the right size. They play in any CD player.
What to send
Your mastered audio
Final, mastered WAV files, 16-bit 44.1 kHz, in running order. Mastering isn’t included, so send the finished mix.
Track names
Titles and artist are written to the disc (CUE sheet and CD-Text), so they show up in players and apps that read them.
Disc and insert art
A circle design for the disc, plus front and back art for the insert. Templates on request.
Your deadline
If the CDs are for a release show, say the date when you order.
Questions
Do you press CDs?
No: these are duplicated (burned and printed), not factory-pressed. For runs under a few hundred, duplication costs less and is much faster.
Will they play in car stereos?
Yes, in any CD player, including cars.
Do you master the audio?
No. Send final, mastered audio. Track titles and artist info are added to the disc for you.
Can you help with the artwork?
Yes. Disc and insert design can be added; ask for a price.
How long does it take?
One to two weeks for most orders, longer around the holidays. If you need it by a date, say so when you order.
